You can also try to locate a bank Branch using Search by IFSC Code or using Branch Locator.

What is IFSC code?

The Indian Financial System Code is also known as IFSC is an 11-character code used by the Reserve Bank of India to identify all the Bank branches within the NEFT network uniquely. The IFSC code is also used by the RTGS and IMPS finance transfer systems. The IFSC code makes the inter-bank electronic funds transfer easier by identifying the remitter and destination bank branch.

The IFSC code enables you to make transactions or to receive payments. Banks and organizations use the IFSC to conduct NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS transactions to identify and help to improve efficiency in transactions between different banks, bank branches, and accounts.

How to verify IFSC Code?

The simplest and best way to verify IFSC code is your cheque book. Most of the banks now print IFSC Codes on the cheque books. Your bank account pass book should also have the IFSC Code printed on it.

The 11-digit code differs from branch to branch of all the participating banks. An IFSC code is generated very systematically in such a manner that the first four characters are alphabets denotes the name of a particular bank.

For example,

The IFSC code of a Kotak Bank branch is KKBK0004262. In this case, the starting four characters i.e. KKBK represents the bank name, 5th character is 0 which is reserved for future use and last 6 characters (004262) represent the Kotak Bank branch code. Similarly, the IFSC code of a branch of Axis Bank is UTIB0000242.

*The IFSC Code information presented above is for reference only. Please verify IFSC Code details before initiating any transaction!
